So, since "Room Mom" is one of the many hats I wear, I decided to organize this project for my daughter's first grade teachers for Teacher Appreciation Week. I pre-cut the flowers and pieced the centers on, embellished them with buttons, etc. Then, since we have 2 teachers in this class, each student was sent home with 2 flowers and instructions to write a quick thank you to each teacher on the back of the flowers. I collected the flowers from the students the next day and attached "stems" to the flowers using floral picks and hot glue. I cut a piece of floral foam and put it inside the vase, then I arranged the bouquet as you see. The medallion on the vase has a thank you message to each teacher. Oh yeah, before I put the flowers in place, I put green shredded paper on top of the floral foam to conceal it and fill in the space. You know how, when you receive a bouquet of flowers, there in a tiny envelope on a pick saying who it's from? Well, you could also use some of those picks to tuck in gift cards and other small gifts for the teachers. The kids were so proud to present it to their teachers and, although it was kind of a lot of work on my part, they did feel included in the gift giving. The vase and flowers are my original design. The WPC cutting files are for sale for $12.00 and include all the flower shapes and sizes, as well as all the center pieces for the flowers, and the template for the vase.
